Christopher J. Asterino – Chairman & CEO

Mr. Asterino is in his third decade of owning and operating medical billing and medical practice management companies that have consistently excelled in growth, customer service and earnings. He has extensive experience and expertise in the management of healthcare receivables. He has devoted his career to building an organization that develops and relies on relationships with both employees and clients.

Anthony S. Asterino, Certified Public Accountant

Mr. Asterino is approaching his fourth decade in the healthcare industry where he has applied his financial expertise to the business of physician reimbursement across the United States. He is currently an Adjunct Faculty Member of a teaching hospital with an emergency medicine residence program where he provides practice management lectures to first, second and third year EM residents with respect to billing, coding, employment agreements and personal financial planning. Mr. Asterino began his career in the early 1980’s as a healthcare auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick, where he audited physician billing operations within healthcare systems in the Northeastern United Sates. He is licensed as a CPA in New York, Florida and Arizona and has extensive experience in accounts receivable management services as well as practice management experience such as litigation support, securing capital for expansions, valuation of medical practices, economic modeling, pension planning and design, cash management and budgeting.

Cindy Reber – Director of Coding and On-Boarding

A member of the revMD team since 2003, Ms. Reber’s expertise includes supervisory duties as well as inventory control, purchasing and quality control. As Director of Client On-boarding at revMD, she provides direction and technical support to the entire employee medical coding, billing and collections group. Ms. Reber is instrumental in the collection of vital data required for new client integration into the revMD database, ensuring accuracy and compliancy in every aspect of the on-boarding process. She also serves as sounding board and advisor to new clients throughout the start-up process and transition to their assigned account manager/ revMD support staff. Her previous experience ranges from owning a small business to 7 years of experience in the banking industry including accounts payable and customer service in loan operations.

Jennifer Burris – Director of Operations

Ms. Burris applies more than 8 years of experience in customer service, office management, education and healthcare-with an emphasis in healthcare revenue cycle management-to her position. As an Account Manager at revMD.com she oversees the performance and quality of coding and billing services including client DSO’s (Day Sales Outstanding), bad debt expense, claims research and client communication. Prior to joining revMD.com, Ms. Burris managed 20+ employees in the sleep study and DME industry, scheduling teams to ensure all key business metrics were met with high quality standards where she also implemented procedures to ensure compliance with Medicare’s regulations and payer requirements to ensure clean claims billing. Ms. Burris holds a B.S in Psychology/Biology from Southampton College of Long Island University and a Master’s of Science in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Lori Felton, CPA*, JD** – Director of Finance/Internal Auditor

Lori joined the revMD team in early 2016 to manage the Internal Audit Department. The audit department is critical to the company’s focus of delivering high quality services to our clients by auditing and improving each department throughout the revenue cycle (Data entry/coding/claim submission/patient statements/call center/AR follow- up and reporting).

She graduated from Central Michigan University with a dual major in accounting and economics in 2002. She began her professional career in 2002 as an Independent Auditor for a regional CPA firm in Michigan. She then attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School and graduated with distinction in 2007.

Most recently, prior to joining revMD, Lori performed financial statement preparation, budgets, variance analysis and compliance related activities. Her combined legal and financial expertise allowed her to excel in Controller and Tax Advisory roles in highly regulated industries, including healthcare. Her dual disciplines and unparalleled dedication to customer service, compliance and efficiency makes her perfectly suited for her role and a key member of the revMD.com team.

Dolores Chavez – Director of Training

Ms. Chavez currently manages the A/R department at revMD. She has extensive experience with accounts receivable and all aspects of processing medical claims, including knowledge of government programs, HIPAA regulations and employer compliancy policies. Prior to joining revMD, Ms. Chavez managed the A/R department at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a pediatric specialty hospital with 345 beds. Her background also includes 6 years of medical billing and collecting, 2 years of accounts receivable processing and 7 years as front and back office coordinator for Planned Parenthood of America. She graduated from San Joaquin Valley College.

Tisha Gutierrez, CMC, CBMCS, CEMC, CGCS

Tisha joined the revMD team in 2014 and has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field.  She is a Certified Medical Coder with additional speciality certifications in Evaluation and Management and Gastroenterology.  She plans to extend her certifications by obtaining a CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor) and CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder).

Tisha comes from private practices, which has given her extensive knowledge of all aspects of a physician practice.  Her background includes Gastroenterology, Podiatry, General Surgery, Non-invasive Cardiology, Orthopedics and DME.  She also provides training to new physicians on the Documentation Guidelines to help them understand the importance of clear and concise medical record documentation.

Christina Carr– Account Manager

Christina joined the revMD family in February 2012 with nearly 2 decades of direct healthcare experience. Since 1998 Christina has been working in the health care field and has gained expert level knowledge and experience in Practice and Operations management in multi – specialty private practices. Christina also managed a community health clinic dedicated to serving the medical and behavioral health needs of her local community as well as providing services to the under and non- insured. As an Account Manager at revMD, Christina oversees the revenue cycle management process for all of our NextGen Meditouch Clients and manages the NextGen Meditouch team. Her daily responsibilities include managing the performance and quality of coding and billing services, software management and overseeing the full revenue cycle from demographic entry to claims follow up.

Patrick Hayden, MBA – Account Manager

Patrick joined the revMD team in May, 2016 as an Account Manager. Patrick has 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Most recently, Patrick worked as a Practice Administrator for a pain management practice and a Consultant with the Wolfe Consulting Group, where he analyzed operational and strategic planning needs for various medical groups.Patrick received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University and obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Throughout his career, he has worked with hospitals, medical groups, and insurance companies, including: St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (Phoenix, AZ), Scottsdale Memorial Health System (Scottsdale, AZ), Oakwood Health System (Dearborn, MI), Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona and Michigan, and Anesthesia Business Consultants (Jackson, MI). Additionally, Patrick worked for 7 years with Baker College in Michigan as an adjunct faculty member for the Health Services Administration department in the College of Business Administration.

Patrick’s extensive background in Revenue Cycle Management is invaluable to the revMD team. His analytical skills allow him to identify and resolve the challenging issues that we and our clients face every day in the rapidly changing healthcare industry.

Salvatore LaCognata, D.O. – Advisory Board Chairman

Dr. LaCognata is a Cleveland Clinic Foundation Fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon in the field of adult reconstruction, specifically Hip and Knee replacement surgery. His practice is limited to Hip and Knee Reconstruction both primary and revision. He is involved in development and utilization of new technology and employs computer navigation/ computer assisted surgery, and minimally invasive techniques where appropriate. He utilizes the latest advances in orthopaedics to get his patients back to their normal lives as quickly as possible. Dr. LaCognata completed his fellowship, in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. The Clinic enjoys a strong reputation for outstanding care and was named one of the four “Best Hospitals” in America by U.S. News & World Report.
Dr. LaCognata is also involved in clinical research trials of related medications and devices, physician / medical education and training both in the United States as well as abroad.  He has served as Chairman of the Board at a Orthopedic subspecialty hospital, currently consults for major manufacturing device companies and serves as adult reconstruction specialist in the Phoenix metro area.

Other Critical Teams In Our Organization

Our Patient Financial Services Representatives are very familiar with the clients they represent. They use their knowledge and expertise to provide accurate and helpful information applicable to each individual situation. They assist patients with billing and payment options, while interacting with representatives from various insurance carriers to insure all claims are processed properly and payments due to our clients are collected.
Before a claim can be submitted for payment, the procedure must have the correct code applied for proper billing. Our coding department is staffed with certified coders armed with many years of experience in the complexities of CPT Codes, modifiers, and the art of diagnosis coding. This enables them to accurately and effectively code the thousands of procedures performed by our clients each month.
Our Payment Posting division is responsible for entering thousands of patient payments into our database each month. Their position is crucial to the accurate and timely records we maintain for our clients. As payments are posted to individual accounts, each accounts is closely monitored for any additional outstanding payments due, which triggers the follow up actions of our A/R department. Together they insure the accuracy of our patient accounts.
revMD has developed the most thorough and effective follow up procedures in the industry. Our A/R representatives are experts in the research, correction and re-submittal of denied claims, along with written appeals. Their experience enables them to consistently increase collection ratios on previously denied claims, and their efforts result in an above average return for our clients.
Our IS team provides support to both our internal operations as well as healthcare providers in the community. Using current technology developments and enhancements enables us to provide the highest level of service for the most efficient and accurate exchange of information, the department manages the receipt of large quantities of billing data sent to revMD from around the country on a daily basis and is responsible for all reporting including standard Billing and Collection reports to very complex custom built reports. We are also a reseller of Dell computer products and offer installation and support for all hardware sales.
